Boston Dog Moms: Jenny, we're thrilled to have you here! Let's start with a fun one – can you share a memorable moment you've had with one of your pups?

Jenny: Absolutely! Lucas, when he was younger, was quite the character. He had this quirky habit of hiding under the table, and you wouldn't even know he was there. But as soon as you moved your feet, he'd dart out and playfully attack them. It always cracked me up. Now, in his old age, he's turned into the sweetest dog you could imagine. It's funny how they change over time. We adopted Lucas from the Northeast Animal Shelter, and we celebrate his and my dad's birthdays together in November.

Boston Dog Moms: Aww, Lucas sounds like a real charmer! We bet that kept your Zoom meetings interesting. 😂 What about Ollie? Any quirks we should know about?

Jenny: Oh, Ollie is a little escape artist. He loves to run away from my sister Delaney. Whenever she takes him up to her room or has him while watching TV, he waits for the perfect moment and then makes a run for it as soon as she leaves the room. It never fails to make me laugh. But deep down, he loves her to bits.

Boston Dog Moms: Ollie's got some moves! Sounds like you never have a dull moment at home. How has being a dog mom impacted your life and your perspective on the world?

Jenny: Being a dog mom has made me more compassionate, caring, and understanding. There's something special about the bond between a person and their dog that changes you for the better.

Boston Dog Moms: We couldn't agree more! Now, we know it's not all belly rubs and park visits. Can you share some of the challenges you've faced as a dog mom and how you've overcome them?

Jenny: Losing my dog Olivia in November 2022 was one of the hardest experiences I've ever been through. She was more than a pet; she was my soul dog and my best friend. Her sudden absence overwhelmed me with sadness, and it took a toll on my life. I even had to leave my job. But with the support of family, friends, co-workers, time, and intensive therapy, I managed to overcome it. Olivia was truly one of a kind, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have had her by my side for 11 wonderful years. To me, it will always be Lucas, Ollie, and Olivia, the three amigos.

Boston Dog Moms: Jenny, thank you for sharing such a personal experience. Losing a furry family member is never easy, and your story of resilience is truly inspiring. Let's lighten the mood a bit - can you describe Lucas, Ollie, and Olivia's personalities in just three words each?

Boston Dog Moms: How do your dogs bring joy and happiness to your everyday life?

Jenny: They have this incredible ability to make me feel loved every day. When I come home, they bark, do their happy dances, and Ollie showers me with kisses. We play together, and I absolutely adore cuddling up with them after a long day. They act like I've been gone for years, even if it's just for 10 minutes. Their love is truly unconditional.

Boston Dog Moms: That's the magic of dogs, isn't it? They're always there to turn a rough day around. Do you have any favorite activities or rituals that you enjoy doing with your pups?

Jenny: While they do love their sleep, they're also enthusiastic about going on walks. I really enjoy being outside with them, getting some fresh air, and greeting people. I especially love meeting other dogs during our walks. We usually take the same route every day, but occasionally, I like to change it up. There's something special about seeing their happy faces with their tongues out, smiling, and when we get home, they're so tired they sleep for hours.

Boston Dog Moms: Walks are the best! It's like a mini-adventure every day. Now, we're so glad you're part of our Boston Dog Moms community! How has it added value to your journey as a dog mom?

Jenny: Yes! I feel like I've learned some new dog info I didn't know before...networking with some nice dog people, And not to mention I won this photo shoot and gift basket! Extra bonus.

Boston Dog Moms: That's fantastic! We love hearing about those unexpected perks. Now, for those considering adopting a furry friend, what advice would you give them?

Jenny: I would recommend visiting the Missing Dogs Massachusetts website and reading up on "how to keep your dog safe." They provide a list of precautionary steps, and one of the biggest reasons new adoptions go missing is due to slipping collars or dogs jumping out of cars or running out of houses. Ensure that when you bring your dog home, they're wearing a fitted martingale collar. When traveling, secure them in a crate or make sure someone is holding onto the leash when exiting the car. It's crucial to understand that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, so invest in training to set them up for success. Microchip them and register your contact info. If you're looking for a pet sitter, gather lots of references, and always plan ahead. #Adoptdontshop—I'm a strong advocate for shelters and rescues. Please, save a life.

Boston Dog Moms: That's such valuable advice, Jenny! Safety first, always. Last question - we know you're passionate about helping lost and found pets. Can you tell us more about your involvement and share a memorable experience?

Jenny: A few years ago, I became deeply involved with helping lost and found pets. It all started with a cat stuck in a tree during the dead of winter. I was told it had been stuck for about two days, and I couldn't stand the thought of it suffering. While some believe that cats will come down on their own, that's not always true. I used my networking skills to organize a rescue operation, even getting a tree removal company to help. Through this experience, I discovered organizations like Missing Dogs Massachusetts, a non-profit that reunites lost dogs with their owners. I'm incredibly passionate about this cause.

I've honed my skills in matching lost and found dogs on Facebook and using social media to help these distressed owners. One of my proudest moments was reuniting a 14-year-old dog named Haze, who had been missing for a month, with his owners. Haze didn't have a microchip, and it's still a mystery how he made it all the way to Quincy. The Quincy Animal Shelter played a significant role in this heartwarming reunion, even featuring the story in the Boston Globe. It felt like a Christmas miracle. I visited Quincy Animal Shelter on my birthday in January, and they made me feel like a celebrity!

In my free time, I also enjoy dog walking and pet sitting. Dogs truly are the center of my world, and while I wish I could reunite them all...

Boston Dog Moms: Wow, Jenny, that's incredible! Your dedication to helping lost pets is truly inspiring. You're making such a difference in our community!
